Pick Up the Beat!

I love to dance, but everybody's beat is not my jam.

I'm curious. Whose beat do you dance to?

Our bodies are not built for every rhythm, and neither are our souls.

Are you dancing to the beat of someone who loves you, but doesn't really know you?

The beat of someone from your youth who didn't see your potential?

The beat of a society always increasing the tempo thinking you're not good enough to keep up?

Or it is evil's drum you hear and the devil himself has his hand out inviting you to dance?

Who or what are you allowing to set the tone for your life. How high you go and how fast you get there is always determined by what you allow.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” ~John 10:37-30

As a child of God, you are called to dance in sync with the heart of the Savior

because no one,

no one,

no one knows you like Jesus.

No one loves you like Jesus.

No one understands you like Jesus.

No one has patience with you like Jesus.

No one speaks to you like Jesus.

No one listens to you like Jesus,

and no one can take away what Heaven has given you.

Safety.

Peace.

Salvation.

An Abundant Life.

A standard to live by and a purpose to live for.

(A song of ascents. Of David.) If the Lord had not been on our side— let Israel say— if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, they would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us; the flood would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over us, the raging waters would have swept us away. Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be torn by their teeth. We have escaped like a bird from the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. ~Psalm 124

You're already in His hand. Now, let God order your steps.

God gave you free will to not only decide about your salvation, but to decide whether you will rise up to challenge of His love.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. ~John 10:10

Jesus made the sacrifice. Now, the choice is yours.

As a woman and as a Black woman in particular, I'm tired.

I'm tired of society and people prioritizing what they want from me over my identity, my safety, my sanity, and my life.

I can decide whose cadence I will follow.

I'm going to stick with the one that "brung" me.

If you're serious about going to where God is trying to take you, there are two things that have to fall away; how you see yourself and what you will tolerate.

You are precious. You are safe. You are saved from sin and people's low expectations.

You are not only worth saving, you're worth keeping.

But everybody's beat can't be your jam.

Father, I pray that today will be the beginning of something new in the life of everyone reading this.

I pray that they will look in the mirror and see

your peace resting upon them,

your love surrounding them,

your grace protecting them,

your gifts empowering them,

your patience developing them,

your glory bursting inside of them,

and not dismiss your investment in them but rise up to its' challenge and take back what Heaven says is theirs.

We rise up to meet the life you have for us, and elevate how we see ourselves to how you see us.

In Jesus' name. Amen.
