A God You Can Live With

I admit, it frustrates me to hear people who claim Christ as their own say they can't or don't know how to pray.

Maybe it's because I am reminded of when I used to do the same thing, when I created false expectations of what God wanted to hear and used them as an excuse to not even try.

God's love for me is easy. I was the one making prayer harder than it had to be.

Aren't you grateful mastering eloquent prayer techniques is not a requirement for salvation? I am. Saving our soul only requires that we be sincere, that we acknowledge and believe in the Jesus we say we love.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

~Romans 10:9-10

So, now that we know eternity is secure, let's stop treating prayer like we're preparing for an interview.

Want to impress God? Be genuine. Be authentic. Be real. Feel bad. Feel good. Feel His love. Be frustrated. Be happy. Share all the things with Him you want to share with a best friend or a loving parent.

How?

(great question)

Remind Him who He is to you.

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. ~Psalms 63:1

Joy. Pain. Sunshine. Rain. Share it all.

Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward. “But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted. ~Job 5:7-9

Hopes. Dream. Plans. Share it all.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. ~Matthew 7:7

Insecurities. Failures. Shortcomings. Doubts. Fears. LIFE. Share it all.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ~Philippians 4:6

God is a god you can live with. Prayer is the invite.

Imagine...

Shelter in place with the Most High.

I like the sound of that. I think He does, too.
