When the Suffering Servant Comes...
Christ wants to do something for you.
Something different from any other time in your life.
Something more powerful than you thought possible.
Has your dream been denied?
Your love lost?
Your pain lingered for so long you no longer have words to describe it?
All you can say is, "It is what it is"?
You may have given up, but Christ still wants more for you.
The time has come for deep healing.
This is One of Those Moments
As I look at the leper in Mark 1, I visualize a man with a pain deeper than the lesions on his skin. He's the one isolated in a room full of people. Seen, but not touched. Whispered about, but never spoken to. Taking up space, but somehow, never acknowledged.
At some point in all our lives, he is us.
But he knew he didn't have to stay that way.
Life doesn't have to be this way.
A leper came to him, begging on his knees, “If you want to, you can cleanse me.” Deeply moved, Jesus put out his hand, touched him, and said, “I want to.
~Mark 1:40-41a, The Message Translation
Listen to what Jesus is saying.
I want to.
I want to take your pain away.
I want to silence your tears.
I want to heal the pain that no longer has a name.
Just the fact that there is someone who wants more for you is healing in itself, isn't it?
You are not meant to live a life of "it is what it is". Life will become what it can be, what it should be, what Christ came for it to be - abundant - when we trust the Suffering Servant with our vulnerable self.
Don't you want to?
Lord,
break the stronghold over our minds that tells us this pain is all there is. We believe more for our lives because Christ wants more for our lives. Fill us with just enough courage to dismiss the doubt surrounding us and be vulnerable to him. We ask it in the name of the One Who Sees Our Silent Suffering - Jesus. Amen.
Sometimes, God gives us moment. This is one of those times.
I encourage you to let your spirit fall on its knees in submission to and in worship of my Jesus, the One Who Saves. Let this song be the beginning of the healing you didn't see coming.
