A Different Kind of Intimacy

THIS MONTH'S THEME: FAITH & FREEDOM

So justice is far from us, and righteousness does not reach us. We look for light, but all is darkness; for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows. ~Isaiah 59:9, New International Version

Let me begin by saying this is not about politics.

It is about culture, the Christian culture (particularly the western Christian culture) and the divine power within us that we have been conditioned to ignore.

Perhaps it is time we look at our ability to bring about societal change from the inside out. I am not talking about your church, your small group, or your prayer partners.

I am talking about what is inside of you and what is inside of me.

And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. ~Isaiah 59:14, King James Version

I do not blame evil for doing evil. That is evil's job. Evil takes it's job seriously. I just think we would take ours.

As we walk in the deep shadows of systemic change in America and across the world, it appears we have forgotten one thing....

WE ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.

What happened to standing in the gap?

When did being a soldier in the army of the Lord exclude fighting at the ballet box?

And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: ~ Isaiah 59:16a

Sins of omission are just as toxic as sins of commission. Just because we decide to not do what must be done to make our world a better place doesn't mean God does not see.

I encourage you to read Isaiah 59 in its entirety. It is a reflection of what can happen when good people - godly people - do nothing. If we as children of light do not take what shines within us into the voting booth, we dim its effect.

It is time to prepare for the change we are tired of waiting for but still yearn to see. Start now looking at not only who is on the ballet but who represents kingdom principles. Do not forget the impact of your vote on local and state levels. Show up like Jesus shows up for you and let his voice be heard through your vote.

Evil knows the potential of our faith. Let it see the power.

Jesus fought for our freedom. Let this mind be in you that is in Christ Jesus
