When God is All You've Got...

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you...

~2 Corinthians 12:8a NIV

Imagine...

Every person you encounter,

every stranger you speak to,

every friend you call on the phone,

every loved one you hold dear to your heart

is struggling with something.

Every. Single. One.

But we don't have to imagine, do we?

COVID-19 is no respect or of person. Civil unrest has touched every household in some way. Parents have become school teachers. Grandparents are in isolation. Introverts are retreating and extroverts are compelled to cry out.

Our world is carrying a heavy weight that requires heavy lifting.

This is a job for God's grace.

Grace.

Protecting us from bad decisions and from what is beyond our control.

Grace.

Shielding us from what could be, from what should be.

Grace.

Forcing us to face our limitations.

Forcing us to depend on one another.

Forcing us to depend on God.

I look to you, heaven-dwelling God, look up to you for help. ~Psalms 123:1 MSG

This passage is from the "song of ascents" recited and sang as a part of a pilgrimage. It was sung by people moving by the grace of God and seeking the face of God. They ascended beyond their pain with their eyes on the prize of Heaven's promise.

He is our strength. Strength like no other, and He's reaching out to you. Today, let whatever your weaknesses, your frailties, your shortcomings you have become His platform.

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

~2 Corinthians 12:9b

Good or bad, we are all in this thing together. But so is God. Look to Him. Let what was your complaint become God's complement. Whatever you face, consider His grace.

If God is all you've got, maybe God is all you need.

You are not alone. You never were. Rediscover the One who has never left you, and never will.

He.... waits... for.... you.
