Moving from Dream to Design

CREATE!

What would life look like if you could finally touch the dream you cannot let go of?

In last week's blog, we explored the concept of divine dreaming, getting rid of the excess baggage and homing in on your God-given desire - that one, singular, motivating passion of your heart.

(If you want to know more about divine dreaming, click here.)

Today, we move from dream to design with Psalm 20 as our guide.

God Gives. You Plan.

May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. ~Psalm 20:3, New International Version

This scripture serves as the baseline for our dream to design strategy, so let's begin here...

The text reveals a key component to creativity with Christ. Desire is the dream, the seed sown by Heaven into the fertile ground of your heart but there will only be a harvest when you invest your time, talent, and treasure in developing a strategy for success. In other words, …

He gives. You plan.

… and make all your plans succeed.

Time out for waiting on your creative designs to be etched on two stones like the Ten Commandments. God is giving you permission to, guided by the desire he imparted unto you, be creative.

So, let's flow.

Mission. Mindset. Management.

Picture this. God has handed you what you consider to be a powerful, beautiful image but it composed of dozens of puzzle pieces. All together you see the vision, but it is falling apart as the pieces begin to separate. Why would God allow it to see it then have it crumble in your hands?

When there is no foundation, anything that starts random has the capacity to stay random.

Even pieces of a dream need a plan.

Mission.

May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. ~Psalm 20:1 NIV

Your mission takes the vivid imagery of your desire and demonstrates its reality coming true in high-def. It is the prize you must keep your eyes on as you go through the design process. Do not sleep on developing your mission. It will keep you focused and in favor with your Heavenly Father's wishes when struggle comes.

Mindset.

May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion. ~Psalm 20:2 NIV

One of the hardest things for a creative to accept is the reality that you cannot build alone. Moses received the Ten Commandments, but all of Israel had to comply to reach the Promised Land. There are more creative resources, groups, and opportunities available to us now than any other time in history. Submit yourself and your ego to the Most High. Ask for an open door to the human and social capital you need to succeed.

Management.

What can content do on shaky ground but crumble?

Effective management is the groundwork needed to stabilize the seed of desire so it can break through fertile, but often rocky soil. It gives framework to the sacrifice of your time, talent, and treasure.

May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings. ~Psalm 20:3 NIV

“It’s what you let go of that determines how high you fly.” ― Anonymous

Anything worth having is worth sacrificing for. Come out of your comfort zone and learn all aspects of how to make the dream come true. See proper planning as a platform for your purpose. Know your money like you know your mission. Establishing a financial sustainability plan for your creative endeavors is as important to your business as your content.

The Master has given you a mission to manage, so manage it. Remember, in the end you win:

May we shout for joy over your victory

and lift up our banners in the name of our God.

Time to touch the dream you can't let go of.

May the Lord grant all your requests.
Psalm 20:5-6 NIV

Next week, we close out the series with an exploration of the perfect storm - creativity and chaos. In the meantime, continue to include Psalm 20 in your prayer time and remember...

I love you but God loves you more.
