What does your soul see?

When What You See Doesn't Satisfy

I stood up for justice and the right;

don’t leave me to the mercy of my oppressors.

Take the side of your servant, good God;

don’t let the godless take advantage of me.

I can’t keep my eyes open any longer, waiting for you to keep your promise to set everything right. ~Psalms 119:121-128 The Message Translation

A young millennial had grown frustrated with his employment and his employer. Committed to his work, began to feel the company was not committed to him. Work ethic, above standard. Paycheck, below standard. Finally, he decided to leave.

He wrote the vision. Mapped out his plan and trained to branch out into a more lucrative field all the while continuing to work for a company who didn't see him. But his exit strategy continued to backfire.

Why?

He's capable, qualified. Educated. And yet, what he sees doesn't still satisfy. Why can't he break free from this stronghold?

One day while going through the motions at work, he found himself encouraging a young mother trying to figure out the next steps of her career. A similar conversation occurred with someone else later that week. A pattern started to form, one that calmed his inner storm and opened his eyes to something bigger than himself.

In this space, God was using him to help birth better in other people's lives.

Neither his company's compensation nor appreciation for his work changed, but he did.

He found victory in the smiles on his employee's faces.

He celebrated the light in their eyes when he spoke into their futures.

He began to understand why he was still there.

Nothing about his situation had changed except him.

Eyesight or Insight?

Let your love dictate how you deal with me;

teach me from your textbook on life. ~Verse 124

I apologize right now for anyone who gave you the impression that Christianity would be easy. It's not. But a life without Christ is much harder, and it will harden you if you let it.

It's a challenge to see God moving sometimes because we have been conditioned to seeing only resources or opportunities as God-movements. But there is so much more to glory than what we can hold in our hands.

Finding the goodness of God in your life is not about eyesight. It's about insight.

His glory is prominent in you. It is the GOD 'n You. A rich man can go insane and a poor man can live in peace based on what their soul sees.

What would happen if we began to see every moment of frustration, every challenge, every trial as a lesson instead of a test?

Because we love Christ, it is ultimately Christ's love for us that dictates how he will deal with us. HE is our Master Teacher.

In some of my darkest moments, I have called out to Jesus, my "Rabboni" (meaning "teacher"). Calling him by that name warms my heart. It immediately changes my perspective on life from craziness to classroom.

Christ is our Teacher, instructing us from the textbook of life.

Faith Over Feelings

Is your faith based on your bank account, your love life, your bottom line...

your feelings?

Have you embraced a Christianity confirmed only through eyesight?

It's time to look deeper.

You may be wondering what happened to our young millennial. He's still at the same job, learning not to despise small beginnings. Learning how to navigate life with less in his hands and abundance in his heart. His journey is not over, but just beginning. His obedience to the season will open doors he cannot imagine. Greater is still coming, but the lesson for this season is faith over feelings.

What is Christ trying to teach you?
